The legendary birthplace of Zeus, and Greece’s most southern island, Crete is steeped in history and culture with a tradition enriched by myth and legend.

Visitors are often overwhelmed by the diversity of its landscape – stunning mountain ranges, hillsides of ancient olive groves, fertile plains abundant with fresh fruits and luscious vegetables, rocky headlands, sandy beaches, warm seas, the aromatic scent of wild thyme, and the night sky in all its glory; just some of the wonders that await you when you join us in Crete for one of our Spirit of Aloha workshops.

Of all the places that we could have chosen for our workshops in Crete, the WHITE MOUNTAIN RETREAT CENTRE has, what are arguably, the three most important ingredients: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.

Set in six acres of rolling coastal landscape White Mountain Retreat is the ideal getaway, yet only a gentle 10 minute walk along tracks through olive groves to the village of Plaka. This typical hillside village with its shady square and local tavernas is set above the lovely little beach resort village of Almyrida, with safe shallow bathing and several good cafes and tavernas where you can enjoy a Greek coffee, or maybe something stronger.

But don’t be surprised if you find it hard to tear yourself away from White Mountain Retreat, as I did. The views will hold you captive, the silence will still your mind, the sounds of nature will stir your soul, the wholesome vegetarian food will delight your senses, and the overwhelming beauty will leave you breathless.
